Day1, Saturday: Eastern Sicily
Arrival in Catania and check-in at the hotel (check-in starts at 4:00 pm). Before dinner, we meet with our tour guide and listen to a presentation of the tour. Dinner and accommodation in the area of Catania, Giardini Naxos, or surroundings.
Day 2, Sunday: Eastern Sicily -Siracusa - Noto
Arrival in Catania and check-in at the hotel (check-in starts at 4:00 pm). Before dinner, we meet with our tour guide and listen to a presentation of the tour. Dinner and accommodation in the area of Catania, Giardini Naxos, or surroundings.
Day 3, Monday: Eastern Sicily - Giarre - Catania - Palermo or Surroundings
Breakfast at the hotel. Then depart to Giarre for the visit of the Botanical Park of Radicepura which extends over an area of 5 hectares and preserves more than 3,000 plants. Then we depart to Catania and stroll through the historic center. We will enjoy a small snack in the streets of Catania. Depending on the season it will be an “arancina” (fried rice ball typical of the area), ice cream, a slush, etc. Departure to the western area, accommodation in a hotel in the Palermo area, and dinner.
Day 4, Tuesday: Palermo - Monreale
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Monreale and visit the Cathedral and the Benedictine Cloister. Return to Palermo and have a walking tour of the historic center with the Cathedral of Palermo, the “Four Canti, Piazza Pretoria with the famous “Fountain of Shame”, and the flowery baroque of the Church of Santa Caterina where, crossing its cloister, you will reach the adjacent pastry shop known for the delicacies prepared with ancient recipes of the nuns. Lunch during the excursion. Free afternoon in the city center. At the end of the tour, return to the hotel and dinner.
Day 5, Wednesday: Palermo - Erice - Marsala - Selinunte - Agrigento Area
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Erice* and visit the town. There we will have a tasting of typical almond sweets (Note: if it is not possible to reach the town of Erice due to road closures, a visit to Trapani will be substituted). Continuation to Marsala and visit to a winery with a small tasting. Lunch during the excursion and in the afternoon visit the eastern hill of Selinunte. Continuation to Agrigento, accommodation at the hotel in the Agrigento area, and dinner.
Day 6, Thursday: Arigento - Piazza Armerina - Eastern Sicily
Breakfast at the hotel and visit to the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento. Then depart to Piazza Armerina and lunch on the theme “Ancient Rome” during the excursion. Visit the Roman Villa called “Del Casale” famous for its mosaics. Then departure to the eastern part of the island and accommodation in Catania, Giardini Naxos, or surroundings. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 7, Friday: Eastern Sicily - Eastern Etna - Taormina
Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to Etna with ascent by coach up to 1,900 meters** and there is the possibility to ascend (with direct payment supplement) by all-terrain bus and authorized guide to visit the main craters. Small tasting of local honey and lunch during the excursion (**in the event of adverse weather conditions, we will climb to an altitude of 700 meters and stop at Zafferana Etnea where you can see the remains of the eruption of 1992). In the afternoon we will visit Taormina and its Ancient Theater. Free time. Return to the hotel in Catania, Giardini Naxos or surroundings and dinner.
Day 8, Saturday: Eastern Sicily
Breakfast at the hotel and the end of our services.
Transfers:
Collective transfers** from Catania or Palermo Airport to the hotel and back to the Catania or Palermo Airport: Price per person (per way): $59
** Collective transfers will take place at pre-arranged times according to the arrival of the aircraft at the destination, with stops at different hotels along the route. They are valid for flights arriving in Palermo or Catania between 08:00 and 20:00 and departing from Palermo or Catania between 10:00 and 23:59.
