Stay
About the destination: Calgary, the largest city in Alberta, is a product of the oil industry and is located where the plains meet the foothills. Calgary is about an hour's drive east of the front ranges of the Rocky Mountains. Despite Alberta being known as a prairie province, the city has a moderate amount of hills. With a modern skyline featuring diverse architecture, Calgary is a fantastic urban city with options for dining, shopping, and entertainment. The City Hall, a beautiful sandstone building built in 1911 to replace an earlier wooden structure, is considered a national historic site. Built in 1968, the iconic Calgary Tower is one of the tallest structures in Canada. From the top, you can enjoy a stunning view of Calgary. Banff National Park, located outside of Calgary, covers a vast area and offers breathtaking mountain views. Calgary is a friendly, relaxed, bustling, and laid-back city that perfectly balances modernity with traditional pioneer charm.

2. Banff
Stay
About the destination: Banff serves as the entrance to the National Park that shares its name, home to some of Canada's most stunning natural wonders. The town itself is relatively small and caters to tourists. It offers numerous dining and shopping options, much like any other resort town. Situated in the Bow River valley, it's an ideal starting point for exploring the great outdoors. With its breathtaking mountains, glaciers, and moraine lakes, the scenery is unparalleled. Banff National Park is the oldest national park in Canada, established in 1885 in the Rocky Mountains. The park is situated 110–180 km west of Calgary in the province of Alberta, covering 6,641 km2 of mountainous terrain. It features numerous glaciers and ice fields, dense coniferous forests, and alpine landscapes. The Icefields Parkway, which extends from Lake Louise, connects to Jasper National Park in the north. Adjacent to the west are provincial forests and Yoho National Park, while Kootenay National Park is to the south and Kananaskis Country to the southeast. Visit Banff in the winter to enjoy skiing, or come during other times of the year to marvel at its majestic surroundings. The hiking trails around Banff are exceptional, but if hiking isn't your thing, you can simply unwind in the hot springs.
