Ottawa Canada

Ottawa is the capital of Canada, and the fourth largest city in the country. Ottawa is located on the southern bank of the Ottawa River, and is the confluence of the Rideau River and Rideau Canal. The older part of the city, including what remains of Bytown, is referred to as Lower Town, and is situated between the canal and the rivers. A must-see for all visitors to Ottawa is the Parliament building. It is unquestionably one of the most beautiful parliament buildings in the world. Now part of a hotel, Chateau Laurier still maintains much of its grandeur. Inside this renowned Ottawa landmark, you'll discover luxurious surroundings and elaborate décor. Built in the 19th century, the stunning Notre Dame Basilica is among the surviving churches of Ottawa. Take a tour of the Supreme Court of Canada building, admire its impressive marble Grand Entrance Hall and its exquisite Art Deco architecture. A UNESCO world heritage site, the Rideau Canal provides excellent views of the city. In the winter, it's transformed into a huge skating rink. There are also two notable museums, the National Gallery of Canada, and the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Canada's capital city could hardly be more charming. Vibrant, sociable, bilingual, the city boasts festivals, parks, theaters, museums, restaurants, shops and enough attractions to satisfy even the most discerning visitor.
